You are hereby invited to attend a presentation of the Study on the Possibilities of Improving the Teaching and Learning of Serbian as a Second Language in Primary Schools in the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja. The said event will take place at 11 am on Friday, August 29, 2014, at the “Belgrade” hall of the Palace of Serbia.

Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, met with Astrid Thors, the High Commissioner on National Minorities.  On that occasion, they discussed the issues related to the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja. 

Medvedja - Leskovac police arrested and handed over to the basic public prosecutor in Lebane Z. I. (1962) from the municipality of Medvedja because it reasonably suspected that he had committed the crime of domestic violence, it was stated today.

Z. I. is charged that on the evening of August 19 this year, at a family house and while being in a drunken state, he insulted and harassed, and then repeatedly struck his wife, who, as a result of the harassment and beating, sustained serious injuries.  

The judge ordered the suspect a 30 – day custody.

Vranje – A rigorous control of electricity thefts goes on by checking the proper functioning of electricity meters, announced the Nis-based “Jugoistok” company for distribution of electricity.  The “Jugoistok” company’s teams are currently controlling the proper functioning of each electricity meter, and if they find out any defects at the measuring points, the unauthorized consumption of electricity shall be calculated, the amounts of which can reach several hundred thousand dinars, said the competent persons of the company.  

In addition, the filing of criminal charges shall follow, because the point at issue is a criminal offense.

During a month and a half - long period, twenty or so traffic accidents occurred on the road from Vladicin Han to the Presevo border crossing, while the police identified 620 traffic violations.  That is why the control of traffic regulations has been stepped up, while vehicles in motion are being checked by interceptors, too.

The “Jugoistok” company’s teams began disconnecting electricity to the electricity debtors who had received final notices for the payment of outstanding electricity debts 15 days before.  

In early August, the company sent around 20,000 notices prior to disconnection of electricity, whereas it is believed that half of the electricity consumers responded to them.

Students who didn’t pass the primary school final exam in June, who didn’t completely pass it or who didn’t take one of the tests, have the possibility to pass it in three days and become eligible for enrollment in secondary school.

The final exam at the end of primary education, the one in the second term, started yesterday, when primary school graduates took a test in Serbian or in their mother tongue.

The Privatization Agency is going to sell 502 companies that have, so far, been the property of the state, including the EI, MIN, Simpo SIK Kopaonik, Jumko, Prvi maj Pirot and many others.  

The Serbian government sees privatization as a solution to the former economic giants who are currently operating at a loss. Beside them, companies in the field of information and communication are also going to be sold. Such companies include Nis TV, Vranje RTV, Pirot TV, RTV Caribrod, Radio Bujanovac, Radio Leskovac, Radio Medvedja and Radio Pirot.

Medvedja – The Mayor of Medvedja, Slobodan Draskovic, said that the damage caused in the municipality by the recent rainfall was estimated at around 104 million dinars.

“The Commission for the Assessment of Damage, which was formed by the municipality, determined that the damage caused to the road infrastructure, housing and other facilities, as well as to the agricultural land, amounts to  a little more than 104 million dinars. We sent a detailed list of damages to the authorized institutions in Belgrade  and expect a response from them“, said Mr. Draskovic.

Bujanovac – The municipality of Bujanovac offered to lease agricultural land in state ownership located in a total of 78 cadastral plots, the area of which is 1,275 hectares.

The ad for the collection of written bids for the lease of agricultural land has already been announced, while the tender will be held on September 23, 2014 in the building of the municipality of Bujanovac.
