Grant for Pcinj District’s Regional Solid Waste Management and Environmental Protection Plan

Vranje – As part of the USAID’s Sustainable Local Development Program, a 40,000 US $ grant was approved for preparation of the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan for Serbia’s Pcinj District. The grant will enable preparation of the technical documentation for the expansion of the “Meteris” regional landfill and for the construction of solid waste transfer stations in Bujanovac and Presevo. The EU Progress project is going to provide further 196,000 US$ for the needs of preparing the technical documentation. Upon expansion, Vranje’s “Meteris” landfill will become accessible to the entire region, thus contributing to the regional economic development and job creation.

AMBASSADORS ASKED ALBANIANS FROM SOUTH SERBIA TO VOTE

Bujanovac- On Friday, April 29, 2012, Mary Warlick, the US Ambassador to Serbia, Dimitrios Kypreos, Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, and Vincent Degert, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, asked in Bujanovac the Albanians from South Serbia to vote in the parliamentary elections and to actively participate in Serbia’s governmental institutions.

INCENTIVES FOR LOCAL AGRICULTURE

Bujanovac – The Bujanovac self-government will boost agricultural growth this year with 10 million dinars. Most of the resources from the agricultural budget are intended for development of livestock, mainly cattle - breeding, which will be supported with five million dinars.

Bujanovac – On the occasion of visiting the “Jug” army base near Bujanovac, Dragan Sutanovac, Defense Minister, said that the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia didn’t divide the people on the religious, ethnical and other grounds and that all those who wished to become members of the Army of Serbia were welcome.
