Activities

The Coordination Body implements the policy of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, which shall improve the southern Serbian municipalities and provide to them the conditions for independent development. It also ensures that the said municipalities pursue, in accordance with the set-priorities, the policy that is in the interest of all the citizens. The Coordination Body takes care that a long-term stability and good interethnic relations are developed in Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, as well as among the communities living in the region. In accordance with the set goals and mandate of the Coordination Body, its major activities are the following: 

• Linking up and ensuring a more efficient communication between the municipalities of  Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa  and the ministries of the Government of the Republic of Serbia
• Supporting the funding and implementation of the infrastructure projects that are important for improving the quality of life of the citizens of these municipalities  
• Supporting economic  development of  Bujanovac, Preševo and Medveđa
• Giving advisory and technical support  to the strengthening of the municipalities’ capacities for the purpose of  their sustainable development
• Financial and technical support to civil society organizations, including putting a particular emphasis  on projects and programs that are to be implemented together with young people, so that they could get actively involved in the work of local self-governments and thereby contribute to development of  all the communities 
• Supporting the improvement of primary and secondary  school education in  Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa  and an analysis of the possibilities for opening institutions of higher learning, along with the possibility of studying in  both Serbian and Albanian  
• Integration of members of all ethnic communities in political, economic and social  life at both republican and local level
• Contribution to maintaining a  stable  security situation and people’s safety in the municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa
• Coordination with the international community regarding the planning and implementation of projects in South Serbia
