VEHICLES CONTROLLED BY INTERCEPTORS, TOO

22. August 2014.

During a month and a half - long period, twenty or so traffic accidents occurred on the road from Vladicin Han to the Presevo border crossing, while the police identified 620 traffic violations.  That is why the control of traffic regulations has been stepped up, while vehicles in motion are being checked by interceptors, too.

The police introduce order on the roads, as well as prevent and punish any violations of traffic regulations.  When police officers notice any traffic offenses, they record and track such vehicles by interceptors, which are special cars equipped with the latest technological devices.

“Then, a clear message for the vehicle to stop at a safe spot, which can be seen on the back of the vehicle, is issued”, says Tomislav Spasic, the Head of Traffic Police Department in Vranje.

Speeding, reckless driving and overtaking outside road markings are the most common offenses recorded by the interceptors.  On the main road near Bujanovac, a driver that hadn’t paid any attention to traffic regulations, was overtaking outside the road markings.

“I drove like that just this once, while I usually drive in accordance with traffic regulations”, the driver said.

In just a month and a half, the Vranje police identified 620 offenses committed on the road.

“We identified 38 cases of most serious offenses, which all boil down to reckless driving that is caused by a number of drivers in our area. Such cases include overtaking three or more vehicles outside road markings”, says Tomislav Spasic, the Head of Traffic Police Department in Vranje.

As of July 1, 2014, 20 traffic accidents happened on the road from Vladicin Han to the Presevo border crossing. Four persons got killed in them, while 21 were injured. The stepped-up traffic control will continue until the end of September.
