The Development Agency for Presevo and Bujanovac, with the financial assistance of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, put up waste-bins in Bujanovac last week. Owing to the aforementioned activity, and as part of the concern for the environment, cleanliness and Bujanovac’s appearance, the city has become richer in 14 metal-made waste-bins.

The Republican Statistics Office (RSO) said that the census was important for ordinary citizens, since it could mean that their problems with education, infrastructure and healthcare would be identified, as well as solved. The census will be held in the period from October 1 to 15, 2011.

Bujanovac, Bosilegrad, Vladicin Han – As part of the project “Improvement of Screening and Prevention of Breast Cancer in Serbia”, the Japanese Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Toshio Tsunozaki, delivered a mammography unit, along with the accompanying equipment, to Bujanovac’s health center. Bujanovac is the 13th out of 39 Serbian cities that got a mammography unit from the Japanese government.

Belgrade – The Serbian Government classified Belgrade region as  the only developed one, since the gross domestic product (GPD) made in it is above the republican average, it was stated in the latest issue of the „Official Gazette“.

Bujanovac – Due to a long drought, water springs in seven villages, which are situated in the municipality of Bujanovac, dried up. The villagers are supplied with water from a water tank, which the Public Enterprise of “Komunalac” brings over by a lorry at request, said yesterday Slavoljub Tasic, Head of the Mechanization Department within the PE of “Komunalac”. 

Subotica – The Faculty of the Economy from Subotica is to open a department in Bujanovac, which, according to Nenad Vunjak, PhD, Dean of the Subotica-based Faculty of the Economy, was accredited for marketing study program on September 16, 2011. Albanian, Serbian and non-Albanian students will jointly attend the classes.

Bujanovac – Tobacco experts are of the view that tobacco is going to be good in the Bujanovac region this season. It is estimated that around 300 tons of tobacco are going to be picked. Most tobacco is grown in the area of Veliki Trnovac, as well as in a few more villages that are well-known for this industrial plant. 

Yesterday, Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, Spetim Causi, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Serbia, Dimitrios Kypreos, Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Galip Beciri, President of the Albanian National Council presented in Bujanovac the ABC book for pupils from the Albanian community.

A course in Serbian, which was organized by the Center for Tolerance and Integration of South Serbia, has been running in Bujanovac for as long as three months.  The course is designed for all those who wish to learn or improve their knowledge of Serbian.  Thirty course beneficiaries attend the classes in Serbian every weekend.

Representatives of the Coordination Body, along with Dragan Vukmirovic, Director of the Republican Statistics Office, visited the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac, where the training of municipal instructors for the forthcoming taking of the national census had beguan.
