EUROPEAN PROGRESS: FIRST PROJECTS FOR SMES APPROVED

Prijepolje - The Managing Board of the European Progress development program approved, at its yesterday’s meeting, the financing of five cluster support projects, the total value of which is 198,000 euros, of which the European Union and the Swiss government would provide 174,000 euros, while clusters themselves would provide the remaining 24,000 euros. 28 small and medium-sized enterprises in the southeast and southwest of the country will be supported by these projects, while it is expected that at least 15 new jobs will be created through the undertaking of activities, as well as at least a 5 percent increase in the turnover and export of goods will be achieved.

“JAZZ DAY" IN NIS AND VRANJE

Nis – “Nisville” will mark the world day of jazz, which is April 30, with concerts held in Nis and Vranje, where musicians from Bujanovac, Vranje, Leskovac and Nis will perform.

MR. MILKOVIC TO LEAD MANAGING BOARD OF VETERINARY CHAMBER OF SERBIA

Bujanovac – Miodrag Milkovic, the Director of the Veterinary Station in Bujanovac, is the new Chairman of the Managing Board of the Veterinary Chamber of Serbia.

CUSTOMS OFFICIALS DISCOVERED OVER 90,000 EUROS IN A WOMAN’S VANITY CASE

Presevo – Customs officers at Presevo border crossing discovered over 90,000 euros hidden in a woman's vanity case, for which there was no certificate of the origin of the money.  Also, of the above-mentioned sum, over 70,000 euros were seized, the Customs Administration said.

SHUTTING OFF OF ELECTRICITY METERS IN SOUTH SERBIA STARTED

Vranje – The Electric Power Distribution Company from Vranje issued warning notices about electric power disconnection to 7,922 customers in the category of households, as well as to 944 companies in South Serbia.

NEW SOLUTIONS IN THE FIELD OF FAMILY PENSIONS

Belgrade - Changes in the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, which are effective as of this year, brought new solutions in the field of family pensions. Widows or widowers, who at the time of death of their spouses are younger than 45, won’t be able to count on family pensions any longer.

CITIZENS FROM SOUTH AND EAST SERBIA LEAVE THE COUNTRY THE MOST

Belgrade - According to the publication "Serbia in the Process of International Migration," by Vladimir Stankovic, which was published by the Republic Statistical Office, most people that live and work abroad are from South and East Serbia, a bit more than 110, 000 of them, followed by those from Sumadija and western Serbia, around 104,000 of them, while there are by half fewer citizens of Belgrade and Vojvodina.

SUBSIDIES PROVIDED TO CATTLE-BREEDERS FROM BUJANOVAC

Bujanovac – Nagip Arifi, the Mayor of Bujanovac, said that the Bujanovac local self-government had earmarked 11 million dinars in its budget to support the implementation of agricultural and rural development policy for the current year.  Of the total amount, the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja will participate with four million dinars.

INSPECTION UNCOVERED 62 ILLEGAL WORKERS IN A FACTORY IN BUJANOVAC

Bujanovac - The Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Republic of Serbia announced that the Labor Inspectorate had discovered 62 illegal workers at a production facility in Bujanovac, but failed to state which production facility it was.
