The Office of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medvedja informs representatives of the media that the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia, HE Mr. Alexander Konuzin, is going to pay a visit to South Serbia on February 2 and 3, 2009.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) conducted a two-day training course for representatives of milk producers from South Serbia, with the aim of improving their skills in the fields of management, finance and marketing.

The ninth in a row meeting, which is part of the “Kosovo is on the Other Side” project, was held in Bujanovac. The meeting was organized by the Center for Democracy and Development of South Serbia and the “JUGpress” regional agency. The project is supported by the British embassy in Belgrade.

Representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and of the municipalities of Leskovac, Lebane, Vlasotince and Medvedja signed an agreement on implementation of the Youth Achievement Program, which is to be carried out at several secondary schools in those municipalities.

A business incubator should start operating in Medvedja this year. In addition, a water-filtering station should be built, as well as a sewage system, which should be constructed both in the center of the municipality and in Sijarinska Spa. The residents of this multi-ethnic region expect that at least 80 million dinars would be invested in the municipality from the National Investment Program (NIP), since the amount in question was approved last year but it wasn't realized.

On January 16, 2009, the "Center for Democracy and Development of South Serbia" NGO and the "Jugpress" regional information agency held the eight in a row meeting in Bujanovac. The topic discussed during the meeting was the current political situation in the municipality of Bujanovac and the problems created by the leaving of the Serbian members of the local parliament from the Bujanovac Municipal Assembly.
