You are invited to provide press and TV coverage of the first visit of the President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Zoran Stankovic, to the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja on December 3 and 4, 2012. It was planned for the President of the Coordination Body to visit the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja and to meet, on that occasion, with the Mayors, Heads of the groups of councilors, representatives of political parties and Deans of the Faculties of Law and Economics in Medvedja, the President of the Albanian National Council and representatives of the OSCE. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR VULNERABLE ROMA SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

NORWAY HELPS SOUTH SERBIA

Nils Ragner Kamsvag, said yesterday at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the PBILD Program, which was held in Vranje, that it was most important for the local self-governments of Pcinj and Jablanica districts to "have strong leaders with clearly defined objectives, so that we could jointly and through partnership implement them.”  He added that Norway had supported several projects in South Serbia that promoted economic development.

GOLD AND COPPER IN THE VILLAGE OF TULARE, NEAR MEDVEDJA

Source: Jugpress  / Medvedja - 800,000 tons of copper and 78 tons of gold were discovered in the village of Tulare, which is situated near Medvedja, according to the "Danube Minerals" company, which carried out research there. It was also said in the statement that "following the final calculation of mineral reserves in Tulare, it was established that 300 million tons of ore with a content of 0.27 percent of copper and 0.26 grams per ton of ore existed there. This amounts to 800,000 tons of copper and 78 tons of gold ", the media conveyed the statement of Phil Fox, Research Manager at the" Danube Minerals" company.

MR. STANKOVIC: BRINGING OF CHARGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE MONUMENT IN PRESEVO

The President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac Medvedja, Zoran Stankovic, said yesterday that criminal and misdemeanor charges had been brought against those responsible for putting up a monument to members of the Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja (LAPBM) in Presevo. Mr. Stankovic stated at the press conference that the monument had been placed without the permission of the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments from Nis,

PRESS RELEASE - 24.11.2012.

The School of the Serbian language begins operating on Saturday, November 24, 2012. Students will attend classes at the Cultural Center in Bujanovac and at the secondary technical school in Presevo.  The school will have 310 students, who will, during a seven- month period, twice per week, on Saturdays and Sundays, with the assistance of teachers of the Serbian language and two teaching assistants from the Albanian community, improve their knowledge of Serbian for free and gain certified diplomas.

THE BEGINNING OF THE SERBIAN LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN BUJANOVAC AND PRESEVO

The Serbian language school, which is organized by the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, began operating on November 24, 2012. The classes in Serbian are attended by young people, who are from 15 to 30 years old, from the Albanian community in the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo. The language school is free and will last seven months. The Coordination Body provided top-quality textbooks for learning Serbian to all the students. The classes are held twice per week, on weekends, on the premises of the Faculty of Economics’ Department in Bujanovac and the secondary technical school in Presevo.

REPORTING ON THE MONUMENT IN PRESEVO TO THE INSPECTION

Source: Politika daily / On the occasion of putting the square in order, the local authorities cooperated with the Institute for Protection of Cultural Heritage, but the monument to LAPBM members was erected without the Institute’s consent. Which procedure had to be implemented and which governmental body is in charge of the controversial monument to LAPBM members, who are members of the Albanian paramilitary formation that attacked the police, army and civilians in the region in 2000 and 2001? The square in Presevo was previously treated as a spatial entity, while the carrying out of any works in it required the approval of the Nis Institute for Protection of Cultural Heritage, which the local government had failed to do.

Representatives of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, headed by the President of the Coordination Body, Zoran Stankovic, met today with the U.S. Ambassador Michael Kirby, the British Ambassador Michael Davenport, Vincent Degert, the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia and Paula Thiede, the Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
