TRACTOR USED AS “SLEEPER”

A photo of a tired man who had decided to get some sleep and rest in the unusual means of transportation was recently taken on the local Bujanovac – Vranje road.

The tractor driver and his passenger in the trailer, weren’t only a danger on the road, but were also attractive for many travelers, who took photos of the unusual sight.

JAZZ-A MULTICULTURAL EXPRESSION

Fifty or so participants in the “Jazz-A Multicultural Expression“project, within which students of music academies and music schools, as well as self-taught musicians from six towns in South Serbia,  took part in free workshops, will perform on August 15 at the Nisville's Youth Stage.  The said workshops are part of the Nisville Jazz Festival.

FEW GIRLS FROM SOUTH SERBIA HIRED IN BUJANOVAC AND PRESEVO RESTAURANTS

Vranje – Vranje police said that 32 female persons, who had worked without employment contracts, were identified during the police check of restaurants in Bujanovac and Presevo.  

On the night between August 12 and 13  this year, members of the Police Department in Vranje, in cooperation with the Tourist Inspection, the Tax Administration’s Field Inspection and the Labor Inspection, conducted a thorough check of five restaurants in the area of Bujanovac and Presevo, four of which were in the area of ​​Bujanovac and one in the area of Presevo.

THE LARGEST SUMMER VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN IN SOUTH SERBIA

Bujanovac – Blood reserves are usually reduced in summer, due to which patients’ operations are postponed. A thousand units of blood per day are needed in Serbia, while the Vranje hospital needs about 15 of them. In case of emergencies, twice more blood is needed.

RECONSTRUCTION OF THE CENTRAL SQUARE IN BUJANOVAC BEGINS

The reconstruction of the central square in Bujanovac has begun. The extensive works are financed from the municipal budget and with the financial assistance of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja amounting to 30 million dinars, while the area of as many as 7,000 square meters, which will get a new look, is quite impressive.

POLIECEMAN HIT WITH A SLAP

Bujanovac - By the prosecutor’s order, the police in Bujanovac decided to keep M.J (aged 48) in custody of up to 48 hours due to the suspicion that he had slapped a traffic policeman during the performance of his official duties, stated the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia.

ORAOVAC LAKE GETS A NEW ROAD

The local self- government of the municipality of Presevo began paving the road located next to the lake in the village of Oraovica.  

The implementation of the project is funded by the municipality of Presevo and the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.  The project of asphalting the 1,600 meters long road is scheduled by the investment plan for 2014, while the funds earmarked for the aforementioned project amount to 29 million dinars. The project should be completed next year.

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION IN SOUTH SERBIA

Almost all primary school pupils finish off school in 60 municipalities in Serbia, while in  55 municipalities less than 90 percent of students do so. The worst situation is in the municipalities of Medvedja Crna Trava and Merosina, where primary school is completed by less than 70 percent of students. In 15 municipalities, which include the municipality of Gadzin Han, the percentage ranges from 70 to 80 per cent, while in 37 municipalities, which include the municipality of Presevo, between 80 and 90 percent of students complete primary school education.

ACTION ON DISCONNECTING ELECTRIC POWER IN PCINJ DISTRICT

Vranje,Bujanovac,Presevo – Early yesterday morning, the action on disconnecting power supply to irregular payers and those who steal it was launched at 13 locations in the Pcinj district, while the police, too, took part in it, said the Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic in Vranje.

PICKING OF BLACKBERRIES IN PCINJ DISTRICT

Vranje – The picking of blackberries is underway in the territory of the Pcinj district.  According to the Agricultural Advisory Office, blackberry - growers aren’t satisfied with the purchase price, while blackberries are of lower quality due to a heavy rainfall. Suzana Jerkic, a fruit expert with the Agricultural Advisory Office, said that the average yield that year was 12 tons per hectare.
