Bujanovac – The major topics discussed at yesterday’s forum, which was organized in Bujanovac by the Center for Democracy, included the economic situation in and the prospects of South Serbia.

BEING IN THE BLACK AFTER 20 YEARS

Bujanovac – It took the Bujanovac-based enterprise „Megal”, which manufactures boilers and the central heating equipment and which used to be a loss-maker and indebted, three years to overcome its difficulties and begin conducting profitable business operations.

AWARDS GIVEN TO THE YOUNG FROM BUJANOVAC AND PRESEVO

On Friday, March 23, awards were given to the young from Bujanovac and Presevo for their contribution to the project „The Implementation of YouthBuild Model in Bujanovac for the Purpose of Strengthening the Capacities of the Young for Getting Employed and Taking Activities in the Local Community“.

NEW AMPHITHEATER IN THE VILLAGE OF KLENIKE

On Friday, March 23, 2012, Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, visited the village of Klenike in the municipality of Bujanovac. The Coordination Body financially supported the construction of an amphitheater at the „Bora Stankovic“elementary school, where all formal events and school social developments will take place.

MEDVEDJA IN TWO BOOKS

Medvedja - Books are rarely published in Medvedja, because there is neither a publishing house nor a printing office in that municipality.   However, two publications on Medvedja were published and issued in Medvedja at the end of 2011. The tourist organization of Medvedja, with the assistance of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, published, in both Serbian and English, with the assistance of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, a richly illustrated brochure on Medvedja, which contains interesting information on its history, culture and modern development.  The brochure is focused on the tourist potentials of the region, particularly on Sijarinska Spa, whose 18 water springs have therapeutic properties.

11 BUILT RAMPS FOR THE DISABLED

Bujanovac – 11 ramps, which were built in front of the schools and important institutions, are now at the disposal of disabled persons in Bujanovac and Presevo. The said ramps were, over the past three months, designed and built by 38 young, male and female Serbian, Albanian and Roma volunteers...

COMPUTER LAB AT BUJANOVAC FACULTY

Bujanovac – Yesterday, a computer lab was handed over to first-year students of the Subotica-based Faculty of Economics’ department in Bujanovac. The fitting out of the computer lab was, through the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, funded with 16,000 US dollars by the United Nations Program.

INTERNS IN CONVERSATION WITH THE BRITISH AMBASSADOR

Yesterday, H.E. Michael Davenport, the British Ambassador to Serbia, hosted, at his residence, ten male and female interns, who have been staying in Belgrade for five months as part of the” Internship Program for the Young”, who are members of ethnic minorities doing their internship at the Serbian governmental institutions. Apart from the interns and their female mentors, the meeting with the Ambassador was also attended by Nenad Djurdjevic, Director of the Directorate for Human and Minority Rights, and Danijela Nenadic, Director of the Coordination Body’s Office.

CLUSTER MUNITION AROUND PRESEVO

Speaking of cluster munition, we are currently doing two projects in the municipality of Presevo, the donation for which was made by the government of the Kingdom of Norway, said Petar Mihajlovic, Director of the Demining Center.
