DEMINING OF SOUTH SERBIA

Pursuant to the bilateral cooperation between Norway and Serbia, the demining of 4.3 km2 of the land in South Serbia began yesterday in the village of Bustranja, which is situated in the municipality of Presevo. Emil Jeremic, Director of the Norwegian People’s Aid in Serbia, says that there are around 16 km2 of land in Serbia with unexploded cluster bombs leftover from the period of NATO bombing activity.

BETTER POSITION OF ETHNIC MINORITIES

The Serbian government, and  thereby the Ministry of Interior, are committed towards improving the position of ethnic minorities and towards enabling their full involvement in society, said Ivica Dacic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, at a meeting on the general situation in the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.

JUNIORS FROM BUJANOVAC VISITING BELGRADE

The “BSK Junior” basketball club from Bujanovac organized a visit to Belgrade for the youngest basketball team members. On April 18, 2011, fifty youngest basketball team members, who are from six to ten years old, paid a visit to Serbia’s capital city and to the sports hall in New Belgrade, where they watched the training in basketball of junior members of the “Partizan” basketball club.

Young Basketball Players from Bujanovac in Belgrade The Serbian, Romany and Albanian basketball players, who are from five to ten years old, are going to spend a day in Belgrade on Monday, April 18, 2011. Boys and girls from the  multiethnic basketball club „BSK Junior Elita“ are going to watch basketball training of young members of the „Partizan“ basketball club. They are also going to visit trophy rooms of the „Partizan“and „Crvena zvezda“(The Red Star) sporting associations. A visit to Belgrade ZOO was also organized for them.

PRESENTATION OF THE PROGRAM OF THE FUND FOR DEVELOPMENT OF SERBIA IN BUJANVAC

Bujanovac – Yesterday, a meeting between businessmen from Bujanovac and Presevo and representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, the Fund for Development of Serbia and the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja was held in Bujanovac. In the full room of the Bujanovac community center, Dragijana Radonjic-Petrovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, and Sladjana Backovic, Director of the Fund for Development of Serbia, pointed out that their visit was aimed at making businessmen from South Serbia interested in both the Ministry of Economy’s grants and in the Fund for Development’s loans.

The Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja and the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development are going to have a presentation of the Ministry of Economy and Development Fund’s  program at the community center in Bujanovac at 12 o’clock noon  on Wednesday, April 13.

CLEANING OF THE JABLANICA RIVER

Medvedja, Lebane – As part of the activity “Let’s Clean Serbia”, the cleaning of the Jablanica River, which is one of the dirtiest rivers in South Serbia, began. The river will be cleaned from Medvedja to Lebane and Leskovac. Involved in the cleaning activity are members of the Association of Fishermen “Veternica” and the Agricultural Inspection of the Leskovac region.

GOVERNMENT PROMISED SUPPORT TO BUJANOVAC AND MEDVEDJA

Bujanovac – Verica Kalanovic, Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister, said in Bujanovac that that municipality was suitable for foreign investments because it was situated next to Corridor 10. Following the meeting with Saip Kamberi, President of the Municipality of Bujanovac, and Natasa Filic, President of the Municipal Assembly of Medvedja, Ms. Kalanovic said that it had been agreed to submit a list of plots of land that were free for foreign investments in industry to the Agency for Foreign Investments as soon as possible.

„HELP“ SUPPORTS SMALL BUSINESSMEN

Vranje – „Help“, the German humanitarian organization, concluded an agreement with fifty small businessmen in Vranje. The said agreement is on providing support to development of small businessmen’s dealings.
