SCHOOL SPORTS-GROUND AND SCHOOL KITCHEN OPENED IN THE VILLAGE OF LEVOSOJE, IN THE BUJANOVAC MUNICIPALITY

On Monday, September 6, 2010, Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja opened the sports - ground and kitchen at the “Vuk Karadzic” elementary school in the village of Levosoje, which is situated in the municipality of Bujanovac. The funds for the construction of the sports - ground were provided by “Telekom”, while the kitchen was furnished by the Public Enterprise of PTT (PE PTT) Traffic Serbia.

MARKING OF THE YOUTH DAY IN BUJANOVAC

On August 10, 2010, a tournament in street basketball was held in the Bujanovac city square, by which the World’s Youth Day was marked. The tournament was opened by Saip Kamberi, President of the Municipality of Bujanovac. By this activity, the local Youth Office, which had organized the tournament, wished to animate the residents of Bujanovac, in particular the youth, and to point out to them that they should go in for sports.

On September 3, 2010, which is the day of liberation of the city of Vranje in World War II, the basic organization of the Red Cross of the Vranje Police Department, the Nis Institute for Blood Transfusion and the Vranje Blood Transfusion Office organized a blood donation activity at the Police Department in Vranje.

PRESIDENT OF THE COORDINATION BODY DELIVERED FREE SCHOOL EQUIPMENT TO FIRST GRADE STUDENTS

First grade students of the elementary school in the village of Reljan, as well as those in Presevo and in the villages of Veliki Trnovac and Zbevac, spent their first school day with Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, who wished them a happy beginning of the school year in both Albanian and Serbian.

ARMY PROVIDES MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TO AN ALBANIAN VILLAGE

Bujanovac – Yesterday, members of the Serbian Army visited Muhovac, an Albanian village situated in the municipality of Bujanovac and in the ground security zone, where they provided medical assistance to those who needed it.

On the first day of the school year, at 11.30 am, on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, during a formal event, President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Milan Markovic is going to deliver free school bags and school equipment to the first grade students of elementary schools “Deveti maj” (the 9th. of May) and “Vuk Karadzic” in Presevo, as well as to those of elementary schools “Miharem Kadriu” and “Dragomir Trajkovic” in Bujanovac. The event will also be attended by Presidents of the Municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac.

Reconstructed Border Crossing Near Prohor Pcinjski Monastery

Presevo – The Prohor Pcinjski border crossing was formally opened yesterday following the completion of works on its reconstruction.

The reconstruction works on the Prohor Pcinjski border crossing were completed ahead of the contratcted deadline, in about five months. The border crossing was  constructed  at a more accessable spot and it has four new traffic lanes, two of them at the enterance and two of them at the exist of the country. Traffic-lights were installed and new premises for customs officers and members of the border police were built.

Assistance with Small Business Initiatives in South Serbia

The “HELP” organization launched a campaign related to the project “Decrease of Poverty through Support to Sustainable Local Development in South Serbia” in the territory of the city of Vranje. The project is implemented in the territory of the cities of Nis and Vranje, and of the municipalities of Aleksinac, Bujanovac, Pirot and Presevo. It is funded by the German government and the above-mentioned cities and municipalities. Its overall value is 956.200 EUR, and it will be implemented in the period from July 2010 until December 2011. The value of the part of the project that is implemented in the territory of the city of Vranje is around 130,000 EUR, out of which the city of Vranje participates with around 56,000 EUR.

MATTRESS PLANT OPERATES AT FULL STEAM UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR

Bujanovac – The largest mattress plant in Europe, which is situated in Bujanovac, operates at full steam, said Sladjan Disic, Director General of „Simpo“, within which the Bujanovac mattress plant operates. The Bujanovac-based plant manufactures goods intended for exports, while a smaller portion of the manufactured goods is intended for the domestic market, and that is how things are going to remain until the end of the year.

The municipality of Medvedja, which covers the area of 542 km2, is situated in the southern part of the Central Serbia. 10,760 people live in 35 local communities or 44 settlements. We talked with Slobodan Draskovic, President of the Municipality of Medvedja.
