Medvedja – The priority of the municipality of Medvedja was to provide social care to its most vulnerable residents, so that the municipal authorities distributed 2 cubic meters of firewood to each vulnerable person in 50 households.

Upon conducting the procedure, establishing the formal requirements and performing interviews with the candidates, the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja’s board for selecting scholarship holders for studying at the University of Novi Sad reached a decision on and compiled a list of the candidates that had met the requirements set by the open completion. The list includes the following:

The Bujanovac-based department of Novi Sad University’s Faculty of Economics from Subotica has been operating since the academic 2011/12 year.  The classes at the said department are held in both Serbian and Albanian. The aforementioned department was opened with the support of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Government of the AP (Autonomous Province) of Vojvodina, Novi Sad University, the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities and the OSCE Mission to Serbia. 94 students with the Serbian, Albanian and other ethnic backgrounds enrolled in it.

Bujanovac – The Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning allocated to the municipality of Bujanovac 12,600.000 dinars for the purchase of a garbage - collection truck and a bulldozer for maintenance of the city’s garbage - dump.

Bujanovac – Bratislav Lazarevic, Secretary of the Red Cross branch office in Bujanovac, said that the local self-government in the said municipality had failed to financially assist the operation of the soup kitchen, which prepares and hands out 1,290 meals for the poorest on a daily basis. 

In accordance with its set priorities, and in view of its support to the improved quality of education in the territory of the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac, the Coordination Body’s Office announces an open competition for granting 10 student scholarships to the young that have residence in the territory of the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac.  

Bujanovac – It is freezing today, while it is even more freezing inside the Municipal Assembly building, the civic center, the court of law, the post-office, the so-called “skyscraper’, which is the highest apartment house in Bujanovac, where both the employees and tenants shivered because the central heating radiators were cold. 

In yesterday’s rescue operation, members of the Department for Emergency Situations rescued Bozidar Nikolic from the village of Macedonce, which is situated in the municipality of Medvedja. Mr. Nikolic had been snowed-in and cut off from the rest of the world for a whole month, while he had run out of food and medicine seven days before being rescued. Firefighters from Medvedja, who had waded through the snowdrifts for hours, brought him food packages and medicine.
