PLANS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF MUCICIPALITIES

Eight towns and municipalities of the Pcinj and Jablanica districts are going to participate in the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Economic Security Program.  Their cooperation in developing youth entrepreneurship in South Serbia or in providing the conditions for a faster employment of young people was formalized by the signing of the agreement in Vranje.

THE YOUNG FROM BUJANOVAC INSTALL LIFTS FOR DISABLED PERSONS

Bujanovac, Presevo – 30 young people began installing eight lifts for disabled persons at the entrance of the health center in Bujanovac. During their training, which was part of the „Youth Build“project, the young from Bujanovac and Presevo identified the problem of a lack of  lifts for disabled persons and decided to get involved in installation of the lifts and motivate their fellow citizens to help them with  the endeavor.

COMPLAINTS LODGED WITH OMBUDSMAN

Bujanovac – From the beginning of this year until now, 299 residents of the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja filed complaints with the Republican ombudsman, said Elvira Tot, the ombudsman’s public relations counselor.

ALBANIANS FROM SOUTH SERBIA HEIL AGREEMENT ON UNIVERSITY DIPLOMAS

Representaives of South Serbia’s Albanians hailed the agreement on recognition of  university diplomas, which Belgrade and Pristina’s negotiation teams had reached in Brussels, since, according to them, education problems, to which they had been drawing attention for years, would finally begin to be solved.

233 Scholarships Awarded to Coordination Body's Secondary School Scholarship Holders from the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja

„Every child in Serbia is entitled to the best possible education in his/her mother tongue“, said Boris Tadic, the Serbian President, and at a reception held in honor of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja's secondary school scholarship holders. Mr. Tadic pointed out that it was the right, obligation and desire of the Republic of Serbia, adding that a great mission was being accomplished,  whereby every child  would preserve his/her cultural identity and love his/her country, which is the Republic of Serbia.

THIRD GENERATION OF SCOLARSHIP HOLDERS FROM SOUTH SERBIA IN BELGRADE

On Fridy, November 18, 2011, scholarships will be awarded to the third generation of secondary school students by the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja. This year, scholarships will be awarded to 233 secondary school students, which menas that 27 more scolarships will  be awarded in comparison with the last year.

THE OPENING OF THE FIRST SUPERMARKET IN MEDVEDJA

The very first supermarket was opened in the small town of Medvedja yesterday. The supermarket was opened by the Leskovac-based company “Zlatni trag” and it is the fifth sales facility of that company in the Jablanicia district. Confectionary and other products were handed out for free to the customers.

Ten selected students follow a six-month internship program at the governmental institutions

Belgrade – Milan Markovic, Minister of Human and Minority Rights, Public Administration and Local Self-Government and President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, received yesterday 10 young members of ethnic minorities at the Palace of Serbia and said that they would begin their six-month internship at four governmental institutions.

THE OPENING OF THE SCHOOL OF NEW LEADERS

Presevo – The „Youth Initiative for Human Rights“ NGO opened in Presevo a school where young leaders from South Serbia would be able to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for improving the life of the young in their environment.  At the „School of New Leaders“, which is intended for secondary school leavers from Presevo and Bujanovac, human and minority rights, the theory of state and democracy, the European integrations and the influence of the recent past on the political situation in the Balkans will be studied. Thirty young people from these two municipalities will learn at the school about the basics of public advocacy, analythical and academic writing and on the basics of politics in practice. Graduated students of the „School of New Leaders“ will get financial assistance for implementing  their ideas, which will contribute to improvment of the posaition of the young in their towns.

Information Sessions and Study Visit to the Basic Police Training Centre

During the latter part of 2011, it is anticipated that the Ministry of Interior will publish a call for applications for the enrolment of new candidates to the Basic Police Training Centre in Sremska Kamenica.
