BEKIM FEHMIU - TREASURE LOST IN SILENCE

The Italian organization Association of Trentino and the Balkans (Associazione Trentino con and Balcan) held an exhibition about the great actor Bekim Femijiu, his life and his professional ascent. Through the exposed personal belongings and items of the exceptional actor, pervades his private side, about which very little is known, as well as his public activities, which were unique on Yugoslavia's acting scene and recognizable on the world’s one.

SECOND REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON THE INTRODUCTION OF PROGRAM BUDGETING

ACROSS THE BRIDGE ONLY ON FOOT

Under a decision of the Republican Inspection for State Roads, which was reached this February, vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes are forbidden from using the bridge in Medvedja, which connects Trstenik and Krusevac, due to the age of the bridge.  The problem hasn’t been resolved to this very day, which particularly affects about twenty thousand inhabitants of the surrounding villages, who regularly use bus transportation.

NEW PROJECTS FOR SOUTH SERBIA

Aleksinac -  At yesterday's meeting of the Managing Board of the European PROGRESS, the criteria for providing support to clusters for innovations, totaling up to 200. 000 euros, were adopted.  The Managing Board also approved the criteria for granting support to the local self-governments for the development of technical documentation for the social and economic infrastructure projects. A sum of 1.78 million euros was allocated for that purpose.

IN SEARCH OF A BETTER LIFE

A year and a half ago, the eight-member Neskovic family from the remote mountain village Crvenika in the municipality of Kursumlija, where there are neither roads nor school, in search of a better life, moved to Medvedja.  Rados, the father of six children, got a job at the “Lece” mine, while the municipality had promised to help in solving their housing problem.

CORN HARVEST IN PCINJ DISTRICT ALMOST OVER

Vranje – In the territory of Pcinj District, the harvest of corn at about 10, 000 acres of land is almost completed, with the yields ranging from 5.5 to 9 tons per hectare, depending on the investments and the application of agro-technical measures.

BRITISH AMBASSADOR IN SOUTH SERBIA

The British Ambassador to Serbia, Denis Keefe, met with representatives of the Albanian political parties in Bujanovac and Presevo and talked with them about the upcoming elections for the National Minority Councils. Also, Ambassador Keefe, along with the leadership of the city of Vranje, laid flowers at the memorial to Isabel Emily Hutton, a British doctor who, together with the foreign medical staff, provided medical assistance to the Serbian army and civilians in World War I. She also established the first hospital in Vranje in 1918, which was operational for exactly one year.

NEW AMBULANCES

Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar handed the keys of 30 vehicles for emergency medical care to the executives of the City Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance in Belgrade, as well as to the health centers of 20 towns in Serbia.  The value of the donation is over 1.5 million euros.
