Bujanovac – Nagip Arifi, the Mayor of Bujanovac, said that the Bujanovac local self-government had earmarked 11 million dinars in its budget to support the implementation of agricultural and rural development policy for the current year.  Of the total amount, the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja will participate with four million dinars.

“We shall support the purchase of agricultural machinery and the equipment for the production of tobacco, crops, bee-keeping, as well as the renewal of livestock. The largest portion of the funds is intended for tobacco manufacturers, five million dinars, while the artificial insemination of livestock will be supported with 4.8 million dinars,"Mr. Arifi said.

In recent years, the municipality of Bujanovac paid special attention to the revitalization of tobacco production in the area, which was once the main source of income of agricultural households, as well as to changing the structure of livestock in accordance with the needs and potential of local cattle-breeders.
