FIRST SEMESTER OF THE SUBOTICA-BASED FACULTY OF ECONOMICS’ DEPARTMENT IN BUJANOVAC SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

24. February 2012.

The Bujanovac-based department of Novi Sad University’s Faculty of Economics from Subotica has been operating since the academic 2011/12 year.  The classes at the said department are held in both Serbian and Albanian. The aforementioned department was opened with the support of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Government of the AP (Autonomous Province) of Vojvodina, Novi Sad University, the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities and the OSCE Mission to Serbia. 94 students with the Serbian, Albanian and other ethnic backgrounds enrolled in it.

“All the classes were held, while professors and assistant professors from Subotica and Novi Sad, as well as their colleagues from Tetovo State University, fulfilled their obligations in Bujanovac completely, and the students are very satisfied”, said Dean Vunjak. He pointed out that even though the Bujanovac-based department was 550 km away from Subotica, it operated extremely well.  He also said that a visit of students of the Bujanovac-based department to their parent Faculty of Economics in Subotica had been planned.

„The Coordination Body  for  the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja organized the visit.  On March 1, two busses of students will arrive in Subotica.  They will visit the Faculty of Economics, where they will socialize with their fellow students from Subotica, and, thereafter, attend a lecture that will be held for both Bujanovac and Subotica students“, Dean Vunjak said. He added that another visit was planned for Bujanovac students, who would, on March 2, prior to their return to Bujanovac, visit Novi Sad Faculty of Economics’ department, which had been operating successfully for over thirty years.
