Representatives of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, headed by the President of the Coordination Body, Zoran Stankovic, met today with the U.S. Ambassador Michael Kirby, the British Ambassador Michael Davenport, Vincent Degert, the Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia and Paula Thiede, the Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia.

Mr. Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body, acquainted the participants  in the meeting with the Coordination Body’s activities that include the following: the construction of the building of the Faculty of Economics in Bujanovac, the awarding of 231 scholarships  to secondary school students, the beginning of operation of the Serbian language school, which has 305 students, and with the granting of subsidies to small and medium-sized enterprises in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, the total amount of which is 40 million dinars.

The participants in the meeting also discussed recent developments in South Serbia and concluded that the situation was stable and that it required messages calling for everyone’s responsible behavior.

The President of the Coordination Body reiterated that the laws had to be respected and that they applied to everyone. He also pointed out that it was the only way that would restore confidence in the institutions and respect for the rule of law.
As part of the regular activities, the President of the Coordination Body, Zoran Stankovic, met last week with the mayor of Bujanovac, Nagip Arifi, as well as with the mayor of Presevo, Ragmi Mustafa, whom he met this week.
