Japan’s donations to South Serbia

Bujanovac, Bosilegrad, Vladicin Han – As part of the project “Improvement of Screening and Prevention of Breast Cancer in Serbia”, the Japanese Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Toshio Tsunozaki, delivered a mammography unit, along with the accompanying equipment, to Bujanovac’s health center. Bujanovac is the 13th out of 39 Serbian cities that got a mammography unit from the Japanese government.

As part of implementation of the Project of Supporting the Improvement of the Population’s Living Conditions” (PSIPLC), which is funded by the Japanese government, Ambassador Tsunozaki signed the agreement on reconstruction of the “Georgi Dimitrov” elementary school in the municipality of Bosilegrad, which is situated near the Serbian-Bulgarian border. The donation is worth approximately 70,000 euros.

Together with the above donations, the total amount of Japan’s financial assistance, which is provided through projects for the basic needs of the Serbian population, is almost seven and a half million euros. Japan has been providing financial assistance to Serbia since 1999.  Over the past twelve years, Japan donated to Serbia over 200 million euros.
