COMMERCIAL BANK BELGRADE ALLOCATES INVESTMENT FUNDS TO BUJANOVAC As part of fostering cooperation between the private and public sector, the Commercial Bank Belgrade and the USAID, through the Municipal Economic Growth Activity (MEGA) Program, awarded the first prize at the competition „Invest in Serbia 2010“ to the municipality of Bujanovac, which was the best municipality in the category of „The Best Partnership Project“. The Commercial Bank Belgrade allocated to Bujanovac the funds for making further investments in Bujanovac’s manufacturing and business zone.

PROBLEMS WITH EDUCTION SHOULD BE RESOLVED THROUGH CONCERTED EFFORTS Bujanovac, Presevo – Upon his first visit to the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo, Spatim Causi, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Serbia, said that “his country was willing to assist the Serbian government with resolving the issues with education”.

The European Union shall provide from its program of support to local self-governments and public utility companies 14 million euros for the construction of shared water – supply system, which will supply water from the “Prvonek” artificial lake, which is situated near Vranjska Spa, to a wider Vranje region. That is how good drinking water will be permanently provided not only to the Vranje city region, but also to Vranjska Spa, Bujanovac and Presevo.   The whole project costs thirty – four million euros, out of which the Serbian government, along with the local self – governments of Vranje, Bujanovac and Presevo, shall ensure twenty million euros.

This year, only 40 residents of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja lodged their complaints to the Republican Ombudsman’s operational office against illegal or irregular operation of the local governmental bodies. Sasa Jankovic, the Republican Protector of Citizens, says that the reason for such a small number of complaints received from South Serbia is insufficient information of South Serbia’s citizens and South Serbia’s citizens’ remoteness from the Republican institutions, and not their life without problems. He also pointed out that it was, therefore, necessary to improve contacts between the citizens and the government.
