ADMISSION OF NEW INTERNS IN STATE INSTITUTIONS

Belgrade – The competition for internships of young members of the Albanian, Bosnian and Roma minorities in the Serbian state institutions ended yesterday. On that occasion, Suzana Paunovic, the Director of the Office for Human and Minority Rights, said that the fourth year in a row 10 or 11 new trainees would be able to learn about the operation of the governmental institutions.

GREEK NATIONAL SETTLED IN PRESEVO

Kostadinos Atanasias was born in Greece but, due to his work, he temporarily settled in Presevo, where he is developing the business related to drilling wells. He rented a house there and is delighted that both Serbs and Albanians are among his friends.

SMUGGLING OF ELECTRIC MOTORS PREVENTED ON PRESEVO BORDER CROSSING

Presevo – Customs officers on the Presevo border crossing prevented an attempt at smuggling from Serbia over 110, 000 electric motors valued at more than 100,000 euros.

“LECE” MINE: THERE WAS NO SPILLAGE OF TAILINGS

Medvedja – Dragan Bojovic, Director of the “Lece” mine, denied allegations of the spillage of tailings with cyanide into a nearby stream that flows into the Jablanica River.

“SPORTS AGAINST VIOLENCE” ACTIVITY IN BUJANOVAC

The Tennis Association of Serbia, the NIS Company, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development – the Violence Prevention Unit and the Ministry of Youth and Sports organize, during the academic 2014/15 year, a white caravan and the “Sports against Violence” activity in over 300 elementary schools in Serbia.

RISK FROM DEPLETED URANIUM NEGLIGIBLE

Over 15 years ago, munitions with depleted uranium were used at five locations near Vranje, Bujanovac and Presevo. All those areas were decontaminated and missiles with depleted uranium were removed from them. According to the Agency for Protection against Ionizing Radiation and Nuclear Safety of Serbia’s report, the water, soil and plant life in those areas are in order.

MR. STANKOVIC: WE'RE ALWAYS OPEN FOR TALKS

Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, expressed his willingness to continue the talks on the improvement of the living and working conditions in that area, which were, around a year ago, discontinued  by the decision of the ethnic Albanian political ledares.

The Office of Human and Minority Rights urges members of the Albanian, Bosniak and Roma national minorities to apply for the vacancies for the Internship Program for Young Members of Minorities in the Serbian State Institutions. Application form

MR. STANKOVIC: RAMA’S VISIT TO PRESEVO WITHOUT MAJOR PROBLEMS

Presevo – Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for South Serbia, said for the First Channel of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation that he expected that the visit to Presevo of the Albanian Prime Minister, regardless of his undiplomatic conduct in Belgrade, would pass well and that it would contribute to the better development of relations between Serbia and Albania.

MINISTER VULIN AND MR.STANKOVIC IN PRESEVO

Presevo – Aleksandar Vulin, the Minister of Labour, Employment, Social and Veterans’ Affairs, along with Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, visited the nine-member Destan family in Presevo, which is included in the social protection system and donated them an electric stove.
