MR. STANKOVIC: RAMA’S VISIT TO PRESEVO WITHOUT MAJOR PROBLEMS

10. November 2014.

Presevo – Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for South Serbia, said for the First Channel of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation that he expected that the visit to Presevo of the Albanian Prime Minister, regardless of his undiplomatic conduct in Belgrade, would pass well and that it would contribute to the better development of relations between Serbia and Albania. The visit of the Albanian Prime Minister to Serbia continues on Tuesday, when Edi Rama will pay a visit to Presevo. While participating in theSerbian Broadcasting Coproprations’ News program, the President of the Coordination Body for South Serbia said that he expected that Mr. Rama would tell to rhe citizens of Presevo and Bujanovac what his his Minister of Youth and Sports had told them when he visited Presevo – that Presevo is part of Serbia and that the residents of the municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac are the citizens of the Republic of Serbia. Mr. Stankovic expects that Mr. Rama’s visit to Presevo, regardless of his undesirable and undiplomatic conduct in Belgrade, would pass off well and that it would contribute to the better development of relations between Albania and Serbia.

As part of the discussions and agreements between the two Prime Ministers’ Offices,  it is certain that there will be someone in Presevo, but at this point it’s irrelevan who that will be”, said Mr. Stankovic.

He believes that the situation should be calmed down, but as he says, one can never exclude some excess sitiations.

Anyway, I think that Edi Rama’s visit will pass off without any major problems,” said the President of the Coordination Body for South Serbia.

Mr. Stankovic said it wasn’t true that people in Presevo celebrated after Mr. Rama had urged Serbia to recognize Kosovo and Metohija’s independence, which could be read on social networks.

“At that time, Minister Vulin and I were visiting an Albanian family. While we walked along the streets of Presevo, the situation was normal, there was no euphoria or any other excess situations,” said Mr. Stankovic.

Speaking of the activities of the Coordination Body for South Serbia, Mr. Stankovic underscored that grants to small and medium-sized enterprises in the amount of half a million euros had been given that month.

“At the same time, we granted 307 student scholarships, the mothly amount of which is 6,000 dinars, and there were over 700 applications,” says Mr. Stankovic.

According to him, the Ministry of Health should, on its part, award a specific number of scholarships.

“Therefore, these are just two activities that have taken place. We expect that the construction of the building of the Faculty of Economics’ Department will begin soon, since the funds amounting to one and a half million euros have been provided. A lot has been done in the area.  We hope that we will have such results in the future, too,” said Mr. Stankovic.
