ZORAN STANKOVIC: THE SECURITY OF CITIZENS IN SOUTH SERBIA IS NOT THREATENED, THERE IS NO FEAR OF ARMED CONFLICTS

16. June 2017.

Belgrade – Zoran Stankovic, President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, spoke yesterday on Television Pink on the security situation in South Serbia and other current topics.

Mr. Stankovic underscored that the safety of citizens in South Serbia was not threatened.

“The situation is secure and there are no indications of any turbulent movements, "said Mr. Stankovic, pointing out that the competent authorities controlled the situation in South Serbia and, in cooperation with the local self-governments, solved the problems.

He emphasized that the Serbian army and police could ensure peace and stability in the country, which is what they did.

“I think that all indications of an attack on the northern part of Kosovo and Metohija are the fruitage of tabloid statements and tabloids, which in order to raise the circulation, frighten people. The situation in this part of Europe is stable. There is no fear of an armed conflict in the region, "Mr. Stankovic said.

Referring to the request of some individuals for the arrest of Jonuz Musliu for his statement about the uniting of Albania and Kosovo and Metohija, Mr. Stankovic wondered what we would get from arresting a person for what he or she had said.

“If there is a legal basis for his arrest, then the state bodies would do it, not the individuals who by the rhetoric daily used in public demonstrate the power that can lead to unwanted consequences, "Mr. Stankovic said.
