ZORAN STANKOVIC, NEW PRESIDENT OF THE COORDINATION BODY: I WILL HELP THE PEOPLE IN SOUTH SERBIA

5. November 2012.

Source: Press / Belgrade – Zoran Stankovic, the new President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, said that the Government of the Republic of Serbia gave him huge honor by having appointed him to that position.

The former health and defense minister said that he was not surprised by his appointment to that position, and that he would perform his duty, for which the ruling coalition had put trust in him, with great dedication.

"The Coordination Body, though many may not think so, has a very important role in resolving the Kosovo issue. I expect that as soon as the platform for Kosovo and its main strategic steps and guidelines are adopted, we will begin working together on solving the local relations and on incorporating Serbs living in those areas, "Mr. Stankovic said.

He added that he was born in South Serbia, that he used to work in Pec and that he was very familiar with the people from those areas and their problems.

"I often visited Kosovo and I know that it is very important for the people in South Serbia  to know that the government is thinking of them, and that we would work together on solving the problems they face," said Mr. Stankovic,  and announced that his first working day in the office would probably be next week.
