"YUMCO" OPENS A NEW PLANT FOR MANUFACTURING MILITARY UNIFORMS IN BUJANOVAC

2. February 2018.

Bujanovac – The cotton plant "Yumco" from Vranje opened yesterday a new plant in Bujanovac, where 64 workers will be hired to manufacture uniforms for the army and the police, the Ministry of Economy stated.

The event was attended by Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin, the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Ljubisa Dikovic, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy Dragan Stevanovic and MPs Nenad Mitrovic and Slavisa Bulatovic.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Dragan Stevanovic, said at the opening ceremony, that in 2012 few people believed that that plant of the Vranje-based company, which is one of the 11 strategic enterprises, would be opened. He thanked the Ministry of Defense and all those who had supported the Ministry of Economy and reminded that the company’s ballistics plant had been opened in Vranje only six months before.

"As we promised, I expect that the ballistics plant will be extended in the coming weeks.  "Yumco" is in the process of making its Advance Reorganization Plan (ARP) and this will have a positive effect on the implementation of the APR’s measures. Our plan is that "Jumko" should work for the Serbian army and police on a long-time basis, and then for third markets as well," State Secretary Stevanovic said, adding that that was a good example of a policy of supporting the development of South Serbia in practice.

He noted that the make-up of the employees was the same as the make-up of the population, which means mixed, as well as that that was an example by which other companies should be guided.

"Also planned is the manufacturing of special uniforms for members of the special forces, military police and scouts," the Minister said, adding that 8,000 sets of uniforms had already been distributed to members of the Army of Serbia.

The Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Ljubisa Dikovic said that members of the Army wanted their uniforms to be adjusted to their needs, so that they were more modern and functional.

The Director General of the “Yumco” company Branislav Trajkovic said that the company operated smoothly, and that it was in a position to open new plants.

“By getting the jobs for the army and the police, we filled our production capacities for 2018 and 2019, while we are now working on securing jobs in the years to come," Mr. Trajkovic said.
