On the occasion of December 5, which is the International Volunteer Day, YouthBuild program participants distributed to them the aid that was collected during the humanitarian aid activity. A multiethnic group of 47 young people, who participate in the YouthBuild program, which is conducted by the Civic Initiatives, launched a campaign to raise the humanitarian aid for the “Salvatore” collective center.  Together with the Youth Centre from Bujanovac, 48 packages of humanitarian assistance were collected during a week’s long activity.

The packages were distributed on the International Volunteer Day for the purpose of highlighting the importance of community engagement for the public good and with the aim of drawing attention to the position of residents of the collective center in Bujanovac.   The activity for collecting humanitarian aid will continue in the coming period, too. Participants of the second generation of the YouthBuild program are going to continue taking activities in the local community. This autumn, they began reconstructing the city park in Bujanovac, while last year, with the help of the community, they built 11 ramps for people with disabilities and painted school fences in Presevo and Bujanovac.

By motivating young people to be active in their community and to gain experience in entrepreneurship, job search, language learning, etc., the Training Center in Bujanovac has been successfully working for the second year in a row. This year, the young from Vranje are included in the Center’s activities. The YouthBuild program of the Civic Initiatives is implemented with the support of Caritas Luxembourg, YouthBuild International, the Dutch Government, the city of Vranje and the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo.
