YOUTH CLUB FOR HUMAN AND MINORITY RIGHTS

5. May 2016.

Bujanovac The "Youth Club for Human and Minority Rights" project is extremely important for Bujanovac, especially for the young in this city, who are pleased to be part of a program funded by the Council of Europe.

Vjolica Aliu, the Manager of the Club for Human and Minority Rights, says that members of the club, with the assistance of youth volunteers and the municipality of Bujanovac, managed to renovate the run-down premises where young people used to gather. They painted the premises, bought computers, chairs and everything else that was needed for the operation of the club. The initial activities of the club were based on manual work, during which the creative youths made new things out of the old ones that were required for the operation of the club. They made the tables and chairs out of rubber, plastic and wood, and learned the important things about human rights from the authorities on human rights. They made an ethno-corner in the upper part of the office out of the things that are more than 100 years old. The opening of the club was attended by representatives of the Council of Europe, the Mayor of Bujanovac, representatives of the NGO sector in Bujanovac, schools and the media. During the project, television and radio programs were made, as well as roundtables, conferences, training courses and a study visit to Belgrade, all for the purpose of improving human and minority rights.

Vjolica Aliu pointed out that the most important thing for members of the club at that moment was to provide funding for the further work of the club, so that the young from Bujanovac would be able to continue their activities aimed at improving human and minority rights at the multiethnic municipality.
