THERE IS NO LARGE INFLOW OF MIGRANTS IN PRESEVO

20. July 2016.

Presevo – For the time being, there is no larger inflow of migrants in the region of Presevo, on the Serbian-Macedonian border. The reception centers in Presevo and Miratovac are ready to accommodate the new wave of migrants, should it occur.

Now, the Farsi language, instead of Arabic, can be heard at the reception center in Presevo, as its current tenants are from Afghanistan and Pakistan, who are those who can’t obtain asylum in the EU countries. However, they don’t give up.

The employees of the reception center insist on providing humane treatment to everyone and say that the same will be done in the future, too. Migrants on the Balkan route never used the official border crossing in Presevo to enter Serbia. The path that migrants use to enter Serbia is located some 500 meters away from the official border crossing in Presevo, towards Macedonia. That is the path that goes over the hills, directly from the train station in Tabanovci to the pre-reception  center in Miratovac. At the moment, there are no migrants on that path, but the camp in Miratovac is fully prepared for their possible arrival.
