THE MUNICIPALITY OF MEDVEDJA SIGNED AN AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION WITH THE MUNICIPALITIES OF ALEKSINAC AND VARVANIN

Меdvedja - The Municipality of Medvedja, in partnership with the Municipalities of Aleksinac and Varvarin, has signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The signing took place in Aleksinac, and the project provides support through four components: financial management and control, internal audit, supervision over public companies and innovative financing models.

The goal of the Local Finance Reform Project 2 in Serbia, which is funded by the SECO, is to continue strengthening public financial management at the local level in order to improve the strategic distribution of public funds. The project will be implemented in two phases and through pre-formed partnerships between local self-governmental units.

The municipalities of Medvedja, Aleksinac and Varvarin will, for the needs of the project, appoint persons for each component of the project . The project will enable employees from these local self-governments to take part in trainings in accordance with the action plan.

Following the signing of the Memorandum, the President of the Municipality of Medvedja, Nebojsa Arsic, said that by that act, the local self-government of the Municipality of Medvedja had become a member of one big family in the process of local finance reform.

“We expect that after this, the quality of work will rise to a higher level, and that the cooperation with the municipalities of Aleksinac and Varvarin will be established in other spheres of life and work".

The second phase of the Project is implemented from January 1, 2021 to January 31, 2023.
