THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA ADOPTED QUOTAS FOR STUDYING AT THE EXPENSE OF THE STATE: HERE IS HOW MANY FRESHMEN WILL BE ON THE BUDGET THIS YEAR

Belgrade - This year, 17,362 freshmen will be enrolled at the expense of the state in basic studies at six state universities in Serbia. This was decided yesterday by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which adopted the quotas previously proposed by the faculties.  9,682 university students will be able to get student booklets at their own expense.

The University of Novi Sad proposed that 4,883 students be educated at the expense of the provincial taxpayers, and that 3,439 of them pay the costs of education, and those quotas should be adopted by the Government of Vojvodina. A total of 22,245 students will study at the expanse of the state at seven universities, while there will be 13,121 self-financing students.

The largest number of students will be enrolled in the University of Belgrade. Thus, 9,621 university students will be educated at the expanse of the state at 31 faculties of the said university, while there will be 5,571 self-financing students.

The University of Kragujevac will enroll 2,403 students on the budget, while 1,205 of them will pay for their education themselves. The University of Nis will enroll 3,203 students at the expense of the state, while there will be 1,888 self-financing students. In Novi Pazar, 684 university students will be enrolled on the budget, while 270 will be self-financing ones. The University of Pristina, based in Kosovska Mitrovica, will enroll 1,173 students at the expense of the state, while 600 of them will study at their own expense.

As for secondary school graduates who are inclined to arts, the University of Arts in Belgrade planned to enroll 278 university students on the budget, while there will be 148 self - financing ones.

The Government has also adopted the quotas for two-year post-secondary vocational schools, so that 4,675 students will be educated at the expense of the state at 12 two-year post-secondary vocational schools.

Despite the state of emergency imposed due to the pandemic, the enrolment of freshmen in the faculties will be, as planned, from June 24 to 28, while the entrance exams will be held from June 29 to July 5, depending on the faculty.

Tuition fees at most faculties remained at last year's level, while only three faculties increased them. The Faculty of Security increased the tuition fee from 106,900 to 118,200 dinars, the Faculty of Physical Chemistry from 69,000 to 75,000 dinars, while the Faculty of Mathematics, the IT Department, increased the tuition fee from 141,000 to 160,000 dinars.
