TEN BEST STUDENTS TO VISIT THE STATES

5. December 2011.

Owing to support of the local Youth Office, the young from Bujanovac and Presevo, along with their colleagues from Valjevo, Sabac and Loznica, were selected, this year, too, to be partners in an exchange program with the US.

The Youth Initiative for Human Rights announced an open competition for participating in the said program for ten secondary school students and two older participants from those five cities. In July 201, they will spend four weeks in the States (Washington, Chicago, North Carolina, Missouri and Vermont), where they will, together with young people from Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia, learn about the ways of solving issues in local self-governments, the skills necessary for appearing in public and for leadership, as well as about the American culture

The application deadline is January 13, 2012, while participants in the program are expected to have a desire to improve their environment and to inspire the others to do the same, to be interested in international politics and to wish to exchange their knowledge and skills with the young from countries with different cultures.

This project is going to be presented at Loznica’s “Vuk Karadzic” grammar school at 1 pm on Tuesday. December 6, 2011.

The said program is funded by the Bureau for Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, while it is implemented by the international “Meridian Center” from the US and the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, in cooperation with the US Embassy in Serbia.
