SUPPORT TO DEVELOPMENT OF PRIVATE SECTOR IN SOUTHERN AND SOUTHWESTERN SERBIA
The United States, through the Mission of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Serbia, and the Serbian Government, through the National Agency for Regional Development and the accredited regional development agencies (Zlatibor, Kraljevo, Novi Pazar and Leskovac), will be implementing, in the coming period, the Project of Support to the Development of the Private Sector in the Southern and Southwestern Serbia, with the aim of promoting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and increasing sales, improving exports and creating new jobs in the sectors of agribusiness and light and textile industries in the 12 municipalities of the southern and southwestern Serbia (Vranje, Leskovac, Presevo, Bujanovac, Medvedja, Raska, Novi Pazar, Sjenica, Tutin, Priboj and Nova Varos).
By providing financial and non-financial assistance (in the selected sectors, in the above-mentioned territories), the project will support the development of the following:
- The existing companies (a total of 120 selected small and medium-sized companies will receive support in the form of: training, counseling, mentoring, assistance to the export-oriented companies through education and by participation in international trade fairs, as well as by providing various forms of technical assistance-arranging businesses in accordance with the requirements of international business standards, new product design and packaging, development and implementation of specialized software, etc.).
- Associations and clusters (at least four associations/clusters will be supported through training, technical assistance, grants and presentations at international fairs).
- Youth entrepreneurship and women's entrepreneurship through comprehensive support for starting-up businesses, in the form of: training for writing business plans, competitions and grants for funding the best business ideas and additional training courses, counseling and mentoring for newly established businesses.
