STATE BRIDGES SERVICE PERIODS THIS YEAR, TOO

3. March 2016.

All workers in Serbia whose years of service haven’t been paid by their employers and whose companies are in the process of restructuring, privatization or bankruptcy will be able to have their years of service bridged this year, too, with funds from the state budget.

The proposal of the Ministry of Economy hasn’t yet been included in the Government’s agenda, but it is expected that a decision on the matter will be reached within the next ten or so days.

The previous deadline for bridging breaks in service expired on December 31, 2015, while the requirement for applying for it was that the workers had dropped the charges pressed in the court.

According to unofficial information, the requirements for having gaps in service bridged will be the same as before.  It is estimated that there are around 13,000 workers at the companies undergoing the restructuring process who lack months and years of insurance for achieving the right to a pension.
