SIJARINSKA SPA: SPA CENTER FROM THE TIME OF THE ANCIENT ROMANS

8. March 2021.

Меdvedja - If the pandemic allows it this summer, in addition to swimming under the Geyser in Sijarinska Spa, you will,  for the first time this year, be able to enjoy the modern Sijarina Spa wellness center, which will, owing to its design and offered services, take you back to ancient Rome.

The spa area is about 300 square meters large. It consists of two parts, the wet or spa zone, in which there is a recreational pool with mineral water, as well as saunas and a mini beach, and the dry part, which houses massage rooms, salt rooms, and rooms for facial and body treatments.

The first phase of the construction of the Spa center has been completely done, while the second phase will soon be completed, said the president of the municipality of Medvedja, Nebojsa Arsic.

“The second phase will start soon, when we will continue reconstructing the pool that already exists within the hotel, while the opening of the Spa center depends on the epidemiological situation”, Mr. Arsić said.

He also said that the opening of the Spa center would make Sijarinska Spa one of the most modern spa destinations, which would attract the attention of many tourists.

“The beginning of operation of the Spa Center depends on the further development of the epidemiological situation in our municipality, while in the beginning it will be used by hotel guests. Preparations for the upcoming tourist season are in full swing, and works on fixing up the accommodation facilities and facade of the institution itself are underway, as well as the park areas and spaces around the recreational pools", said Milos Filipovic, who is in charge of public relations at the “Geyser” special hospital.

The first phase of works cost 18 million dinars. The funds were provided by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, which had set aside 10 million dinars for the project, and the special hospital for rehabilitation "Geyser", which had financed the construction with 8 million dinars from its own financial resources. 12 million dinars have been set aside for the second phase of works.

Another good bit of news is that the Ministry of Economy has approved 70 million dinars for the reconstruction of the Roman bath in Sijarinska Spa, and the works will, according to Mr. Arsic, the president of the municipality of Medvedja, commence this year.
