23. November 2017.

The initiative for the rights of people with mental disabilities, the MDRI-S, invites all interested parties to apply for attending a two-day training on the prevention of violence against women with disabilities in residential institutions, which will take place on December 14  and 15, 2017, in Belgrade.

The training is intended for civil society organizations working on protecting women against violence, as well as on the promotion and protection of human rights, organizations and associations of persons with disabilities, service providers for people with disabilities, with a special focus on girls and women. The aim of the training is that beneficiaries of the training gain more information and knowledge about the specific situation of disabled women in residential and psychiatric institutions, specific forms of violence against them and the existing protection mechanisms. The purpose of the training is that the existing service providers think about  integrating specific aspects of providing support to the disabled women who survived  institutional violence.

The organizer of the event will cover travel and accommodation costs for the participants outside of Belgrade, as well as all other costs of organizing the seminar.  Two persons from one organization might attend the seminar, provided the MDRI-S decides that is necessary for further improvement of its work in this field.
