SERBIAN PRESIDENT TOMISLAV NIKOLIC VISTED PCINJ DISTRICT

As part of his visit to Pcinj District, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, held in Vranje a meeting, which was attended by the President of the Coordination Body, Zoran Stankovic, the Governor of Pcinj District, Slavisa Bulatovic, the Mayor of Vranje, Zoran Antic, the MPs and municipal presidents.

The President of the Coordination Body acquainted the Serbian President Nikolic with the situation in South Serbia. Mr. Stankovic pointed out that there hadn’t been the risk of spillover of the conflict in Macedonia to South Serbia and that the security situation in those three municipalities was stable. Mr. Stankovic also underscored that regular activities regarding the construction of the building of the Subotica Faculty of Economics’ Department in Bujanovac were being undertaken, that gynecologists for the outpatient maternity ward in Presevo were being recruited and that regular meetings with leaders of the municipalities were held, as well as those with political leaders of the Albanian and Serbian parties.

Addressing the attendees of the said meeting, President Nikolic said that the main reason of his visit was the session of the Committee for the Renovation of the King’s Dormitory in Prohor Pcinjski Monastery, and that he had also visited the Ground Security Zone and Surdulica. President Nikolic also said that the first and foremost goal was to preserve security and prevent the incidents that had recently occurred in Macedonia

“Everyone in Serbia is engaged in the aforementioned activity, while excellent cooperation between the Army, the Police and the KFOR has been established. By having taken preventive activities, we managed to keep at bay all those who might have tried to compromise security. Serbia doesn’t want war, but it will have to fight against terrorism, "said President Nikolic. “Another reason for my visit is to provide, with the assistance of the most responsible people in Pcinj District, the Coordination Body and the Government, the conditions for the people of this region, so that they wouldn’t go elsewhere seeking a better life. Our goal is to provide the conditions for employment in the entire Pcinj District. Serbia is obliged and Serbia shall allow all its citizens to bring their ways of life into line”, said the Serbian President Nikolic. He pointed out that he wanted to reassure all the residents of that part of Serbia that the government was taking measures to ensure the conditions for a safe and better life of all the citizens.
