On September 3, 2010, which is the day of liberation of the city of Vranje in World War II, the basic organization of the Red Cross of the Vranje Police Department, the Nis Institute for Blood Transfusion and the Vranje Blood Transfusion Office organized a blood donation activity at the Police Department in Vranje. Miroljub Stojcic, Mayor of Vranje, Budimir Mihajlovic, Governor of the Pcinj District, Branko Delibasic, a representative of the Coordination Body for South Serbia, members of all organizational units of the Vranje Police Department, the Border Police Regional Center that is in charge of watching the Serbian-Macedonian border, the Security and Information Agency, the Serbian Army and South Serbia’s companies, as well as the citizens of South Serbia, showed that they were humanitarians by having donated their blood. 195 units of blood were collected.

A lecture on “Donation of Body Parts” was held at the big hall of the Assembly of the city of Vranje at 2 pm of the same day. The lecture was organized by “Telekom Srbija’s” humanitarian association “From the Heart”, the association of friends and parents of kidney patients “Everything for a Smile” and by the basic organization of the Red Cross within the Vranje Police Department. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Vidojko Djordjevic, Head of the Nephrology Department of the Nis Clinical Center, who spoke about raising awareness of the humanitarian side of donating body parts.
