REGIONAL CENTER FOR CIVIL SOCIETY DEVELOPMENT LAUNCHED TO KEEP THE ROOM FOR CSOS’ ACTIVITIES
The Balkan Civil Society Development Network (BCSDN) launched a regional civil society hub to keep the room for civic activities.
Following the common vision of the BSCDN and its members, which entails strengthening a pluralistic civil society based on respect for the rights in the Balkans, this regional civil society development center aims to improve the cooperation and resilience of civil society organizations in the Western Balkans through networking and empowerment in the innovative activities to create a supportive environment and their accountability practices.
The specific objectives of this program are:
- Contributing to a supportive environment for civil society development that enables CSOs to be influential players in society.
- Support for effective, transparent and accountable CSOs that contribute to the keeping of the room for civic activities.
- Strengthening regional cooperation for the promotion of the room for civic activities through the Civil Society Development Fund.
Civil society in the region can expect continuous and regular monitoring of the state of the enabling environment, improved use and promotion of best practices of accountability of civil society organizations in the region, as well as a grant scheme that would extend these efforts to CSOs in the region.
This grant scheme will have a regional multi-country grant component, ad-hoc grants aimed at supporting CSOs in emergencies or in their innovative actions through Expert Missions and through supporting their regional gatherings/workshops/activities and the like.
The total amount of the grant is 1,495,000.00 euros.

The program will run for the next two years and is supported by the Swedish Agency for International Development and Cooperation (SIDA).
