REFUGEES IN PRESEVO

10. November 2015.

Presevo – From midnight to noon, 3,000 people were registered in Presevo.  After two days, when the Reception Center was almost empty, all services are working again at full steam.

On that occasion, Slobodan Savic, from the Commissariat for Refugees, said:

“We don’t know where the tip of the refugee wave is. However, this comes down to what we dealt with a few days before the strike of the Greek seamen, so that this situation isn’t extraordinary for us.”

Columns, in which there are occasionally over 1,000 people, are formed in front of the gates of the Reception Centre.  People from the Commissariat for Refugees say that now, apart from the refugees from Syria and Iraq, there are noticeably more nationals of Afghanistan.

Among volunteers from all parts of the world, there was a theater group from Spain in Presevo. In addition to the much needed bread, water and clean clothes, members of the said group offered a bit of laughter and fun too.

The only thing that is good in this situation, when groups of refugees continuously arrive in the Reception Center in Presevo, is that there is no rain and that temperatures are extremely high for this time of the year.  During the day, the weather is the best ally of these people, although temperatures fall below zero during the night.
