REFUGEES AND MIGRANTS THAT ARE ACCOMMODATED IN BUJANOVAC PARTICIPATED IN THE CLEANING OF THE SCHOOL YARD

30. August 2018.

Bujanovac The refugees and migrants that are accommodated in the Reception Center in Bujanovac particpated,  along with representatives of the local self-government, in the effort to clean up the yard of the “Branko Radicevic“ elementary school in that city, which was attended by over 25 migrant children during the previous school year.

Ilir Taipi, the Technical Director of the Public Company "Komunalac", said for the Beta news agency that not only the school yard was cleaned during the said campaign, but also the surrounding area on the other side of the school yard fence, as well as the flower pots.

Before the start of the school year, workers of “Komunalac", with the assistance of the children and adults from the Refugee Reception Center, cut grass in the schoolyard, while the cleaning campaign lasted about an hour.

The voluntary campaign was led by "Komunalac", which had, through the EU support program for the municipalities in which migrants temporarily reside,  got a new garbage truck, as well as new containers through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

This is not the first time that the refugees and migrants that are accommodated in the Reception Center in Bujanovac participate, together with local residents, in environmental activities.

In early March, the refugees and migrants that are accommodated in the adapted premises of the "Svetlost" plant at the entrance of Bujanovac, took part, together with the local population, in cleaning the banks of the Trnovacka River, which flows through Bujanovac, where their families with children often stay when they are out of the Reception Center.
