4. August 2015.

The reconstruction of “Our Joy” preschool institution and music school in Bujanovac has begun. That is part of the humanitarian aid provided by the Serbian Army and the Ohio National Guard.  Funds for the reconstruction, which amount to120 thousand dollars, were allocated by the US Embassy and the National Guard of Ohio.

Around 40 soldiers of the 4th Brigade of the Serbian Army and the Ohio National Guard will help contractors from Bujanovac to replace the wood joinery, sanitary blocks and electrical installations.

Colonel Igor Avdic, a representative of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, said that soldiers always hit the target, and that the project hit the center of the target, since it related to the generation that was coming and that would outlive all of us.

Lt. Col. Corey Shea from the US Embassy expressed satisfaction that the project would somehow improve the lives of children from Bujanovac. He also said that and it was an honor for Bujanovac to get the Red Horse unit, since it was one of their best ones.

The building of the kindergarten in Bujnaovcu was built forty years ago, while this is its first major reconstruction.

Milovan Aleksic, the Director of "Our Joy" preschool institution in Bujanovac, said that the  doors and windows, as well as the sanitary facilities, were run-down.  Also, one part of the roof  should be replaced as soon as possible, while the preschool institution will apply for it to donors.

The roof of the music school will be repaired too.  Its doors and windows will be replaced and the insulation installed.  The local self-government coordinates the project.

Nedzat Beljulji, the coordinator of the project, said that the local self-government was in the process of restoring the trust of various nationalities and voiced the hope that the implementation of the project would contribute to better cooperation of various nationalities in the future.

The US and Serbian soldiers, who are doing the same task, will socialize until August 20, when completion of the works is scheduled.
