RADAN MOUNTAIN DECLARED A NEW NATIONAL PARK

3. November 2017.

Мedvedja -The Government of the Republic of Serbia, by means of a parliamentary decree, declared Radan Mt. a new national park. A public presentation on Radan Mt. was held in the presence of representatives of the local self-governments of Medvedja, Lebane and Bojnik.

The host of the presentation was Novica Stevanovic, the head of the forest administration of the municipality of Lebane, who was, on that occasion, a representative of the municipalities of Medvedja, Lebane and Bojnik, in the territory of which the mountain lies.

According to its geological and biological diversity, Radan Mt. is an area that deserves the status of the representative example in the territory of Serbia. The aforementioned regulation makes it possible for forest habitats to be protected and for wild fauna and immovable cultural goods to be preserved. The surface of 466 square kilometers is protected. A monument of nature Devil’s Town, which is part of the Radan national park, is mapped as a spot that has a world tourist potential, and it will receive a geo-park status in the near future.

The “Srbijasume” public company was proposed as the manager of the protected area, while it is also being planned to form guard service on Radan Mt.

The next step is the development of tourism on Radan Mt, or cooperation with tourist organizations of the municipalities in the territory of which the mountain is located, as well as the inclusion of the park in the tourist maps, by means of brochures and flyers of the tourist organizations of Medvedja, Lebane and Bojnik.

The meeting was, on behalf of the municipality of Medvedja, attended by Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of the municipality.
