PROJECT OF SUPPORTING LOCAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH POVERTY REDUCTION AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

The Project of Supporting Local Sustainable Development through Poverty Reduction and Economic Empowerment, the value of which is 1, 743, 400 euros, is financed by the German government in targeted cities and municipalities in the period from March 2012 to December 2013. 

The project is implemented in Bujanovac, Presevo, Vranje, Leskovac, Bela Palanka, Kraljevo, Merosina, Nis, Novi Pazar, Pirot, Priboj Prijepolje, Smederevo, Svrljig and Tutin. The project is implemented by the German non-governmental humanitarian organization "HELP" in partnership with the "EDEAS" organization from Bujanovac and the "Integra" organization, which is the Advisory Service Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, from Kraljevo.

The program is based on educational and economic support to the local development in South Serbia and Sandzak.  The components of the program lead up to direct job creation, and there should be at least 500 new jobs, as well as to improvement in the social, cultural and professional life of the clients. The expected outcomes of the program include the giving of grants to entrepreneurs, by providing at least 500 grants, business and professional training courses, out of which there should be at least 450 business and 375 professional training courses, the development of four cooperatives and other networking activities, such as study tours, visits and participation in trade fairs.

The project is aimed at contributing to sustainable development in Serbia, with a focus on empowering local economic structures in the above-mentioned cities and municipalities.
