PROJECT FOR ENCOURAGING CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

A group of twenty-one representatives of public, private and civil sectors discussed the possibilities for cooperation between the businesses sector and local communities, through initiatives for corporate social responsibility. The participants included the General Manager of BAT (British American Tobacco), as well as representatives of the Office for Economic Development and of the Regional Development Agencies of Jablanica and Pcinj Districts. The participants identified five potential projects of social responsibility in the Vranje area of inter-municipal cooperation (consisting of Vranje, Bujanovac, Presevo and Vladicin Han),which include the following: public school video surveillance, program for youth work practice, the financing of reconstruction of the city theater, which was recently burned in the fire, business mentoring for regional small and medium-sized enterprises and various volunteer activities in the area of waste collection. The partnership municipalities and the city of Vranje will develop the project idea through a working group, which will include representatives of all three sectors and which will coordinate the activities of corporate social responsibility and work on finding the sources of funding.
