PRIOR TO PRIMARY SCHOOL FINAL EXAMS, BUJANOVAC SCHOOLS UNDER THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION’S WATCHFUL EYE

Bujanovac – Because of the extraordinarily good results achieved last year, the Ministry of Education will particularly focus its attention on two elementary schools in Bujanovac during the taking of the final exam.

If there are any irregularities at the final exam this year, school directors, as accountable persons, shall bear the consequences for them and shall be replaced, said the Minister of Education.

Dragan Gejo, the Head of the School Administration of the Nis District, said that most omissions had been made at schools in Bujanovac, Nis, Vranje, Surdulica and Vladicin Han the year before, so that control over the taking of the final exam in those places would be reinforced.

Last year, the school boards rejected the Minister’s recommendation to replace the directors of 28 schools, due to letting the students cheat at the final exam, assisting them and making other omissions at the final exam. However, now, thanks to changes in the law, the Minister himself may replace the directors who allow the making of omissions.

"I told the directors that there would be no mercy this time. The Minister will not forgive anybody in that regard, and he should not. I will not, either. No irregularities will be tolerated. After all, what kind of an example is given to children if they are permitted to copy from each other or if they are assisted, "said Dragan Gejo, the Head of the School Administration of the Nis District.

Mladen Sarcevic, the Education Minister, said during the mock final exam, that the Ministry of Education would send all its available human resources to the cities in which most irregularities had taken place the year before
