Press release – FREE SCHOOL EQUIPMENT FOR FIRST GRADE STUDENTS IN PRESEVO, BUJANOVAC AND MEDVEDJA

BELGRADE – On Tuesday, September 1, 2009, 1,300 first grade students of elementary schools in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja are going to get free school equipment, the value of which is 2 million and 800 thousand dinars. The donation was provided by the Coordination Body for the three municipalities. Each set of the school equipment contains a school bag, a pencil-box, six note-books, a drawing – pad, a ruler, a set of crayons, an abacus, a pencil-sharpener, an eraser and lead and ball - pens. The value of each set is 2,100 dinars.

Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, together with the mayors, is going to deliver school equipment to first-grade students of the elementary schools “Ibrahim Keljmendi” and “Vuk Karadzic” in Presevo, as well as to those of the elementary schools “Naim Fraseri” and Branko Radicevic” in Bujanovac.

In addition, Minister Markovic, along with representatives of the local self-governments, is going to formally mark the beginning of the works in the Presevo central zone, as well as the beginning of electrification of a part of the Bujanovac municipality. These projects are funded by the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The program of Minister Milan Markovic’s visit:

11 am – Delivery of school equipment to students of the “Ibrahim Keljmendi” elementary school in Presevo,
11.45 am – Delivery of school equipment to students of the “Vuk Karadzic” elementary school in Presevo,
12.30 am – The beginning of the works in the Presevo central zone,
1.15 pm – Delivery of school equipment to students of the “Naim Fraseri” elementary school in Bujanovac,
2 pm – Delivery of school equipment to students of the “Branko Radicevic” elementary school in Bujanovac,
2.30 pm – The beginning of implementation of the project “Electrification of Sector Six”.
