Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, held a working meeting with William Infante,  the UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia. On that occasion, the President of the Coordination Body  informed Mr. Infante about the projects on which the  Coordination Body had previously worked , which include the construction of a building for the Faculty of Economics in Bujanovac, the awarding of  231 scholarships to secondary school students, the beginning of  the operation of the Serbian language school, which is attended by 305 students, and about  the allocation  of grants to small and medium-sized enterprises in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, the total amount of which is 40 million dinars.

Mr. Stankovic said that the Coordination Body’s priority was the solving of economic problems and unemployment in South Serbia and announced that the body would begin the following year by allocating grants to small and medium-sized enterprises in the amount of 60 million dinars, by employing more persons in the Coordination Body’s offices in Presevo and Bujanovac and by organizing a fair at which the three municipalities would show what they have to offer, with the aim of attracting investors.

Referring to the two-day visit to the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medevedja, Mr. Stakovic pointed out that he had been received very well and he invited the UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia to jointly work with him on improving the relations and on economic prosperity.

Mr. Infante, the UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia, supported the Coordination Body’s President’s stance on working together to strengthen the capacities and on development of the three municipalities and he expressed willingness to put efforts and resources into improving employment and economic development. Mr. Infante pointed out that such initiatives were crucial for ensuring a safe, secure and successful living of all inhabitants of South Serbia.
