25. May 2011.

On Friday, May 20, 2011, Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja awarded in Presevo diplomas to participants in a course in Serbian. The project was funded by the Coordination Body, whereas it was implemented by the “International Human Center” organization from Presevo. The three – month course in Serbian was attended by 90 persons, primarily by secondary school pupils and university students.

“This is the issue of investing in the future for all those who completed the course, because this will make it possible for them to find work faster. This is a bridge between the Serbian and Albanian people, because Serbia is the country in which you live”, said Minister Milan Markovic on the occasion of giving diplomas at the “Abdula Krasnica” community center. He also said that the Coordination Body would continue supporting the running of the course in Serbian in Presevo.

“Serbian is studied in Presevo at both primary and secondary school, while additional knowledge in Serbian is acquired from taking the course, such as the knowledge necessary for filling in forms and dealing with specific situations (for instance, scheduling an appointment with a doctor  and the like)”, said Ridvan Ribeiro, Director of the “International Human Center” organization.  During his stay in Presevo, Minister Markovic paid a visit to TV Presevo, too.

Following his visit to Presevo, Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body, opened in Bujanovac an international tournament in mini basketball, which was organized for the youngest future basketball players. He said that participating in such and similar events and associating with one another was the most important thing, while the results achieved in playing basketball were less important. Therefore, all participants were in some way the winners of the tournament in mini basketball, so that Minister Markovic, along with representatives of the municipality of Bujanovac and the international “Progress” project, presented cups to captains of the teams.  The “BSK Junior” basketball club from Bujanovac organized the aforesaid tournament in which teams from different parts of the Republic of Serbia and Macedonia participated. The project was supported by the Coordination Body, “Progres” and the municipality of Bujanovac.

During his stay in Bujanovac, Minister had an opportunity to open a center for the youth. The said center is located in the Bujanovac municipal building, more precisely on the premises of the Coordination Body’s Press Center. Apart from representatives of the organizations whose projects are implemented by members of the younger generation, representatives of the PBILD, Progress and the media, young people from the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo also attended the opening event.

Minister Markovic pointed out that the Coordination Body, in accordance with its priorities, had provided the space for the young, where they could feel good, associate with one another, be creative and conceive their own activities and projects. The Youth Center will also be available to non-governmental organizations that wish to work for the young, organize workshops and seminars, present their activities to the Youth Center’s beneficiaries and encourage them to take part in those activities.

Aleksandar Lazic (the “You and I are We” organization from Bujanovac), Gzim Murati (the “Future” organization from Veliki Trnovac) and Kenan Rasitovic (the “OFER” organization from Bujanovac) said that the newly opened center would contribute to development of various activities of the young, primarily those in the field of culture.
