PORTUGUESE INVESTMENT MISSION

17. October 2011.

In the future, the Water Association of Portugal and the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) will jointly apply for financial resources from the European Union’s funds, while the money will be used for projects implemented in the field of water and water management in Serbia’s municipalities. The said agreement resulted in the signing of a memorandum, which was signed in Belgrade last week.

“One of the goals of the Portuguese investment mission is to assist local communities with preparation of the projects that they are going to apply with, as well as to show them the way in which they could become candidates for the credits given by international financial institutions”, said Vladimir Cupic, Chairman of NALED’s Management Board.

Representatives of seven Portuguese companies and the Portuguese Water Association met with representatives of the Serbia Water, Belgrade Water, Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management and Ministry of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning. They visited Bujanovac, too, whereas mayors of the Serbian municipalities presented them concrete projects, which both sides are interested in from a business point of view.

The Portuguese companies are interested in making investments in the fields of water processing, irrigation and construction of mini-hydro power plants.
