PAINTING COMPETITION FOR THE EUROPEAN PROGRESS 2015 CALENDAR BEGINS

13. October 2014.

On Friday, October 10, a painting competition for the 2015 calendar of the European PROGRESS, the theme of which is “Discover Europe”, began for grammar and secondary school students from 34 municipalities in the South East and South West Serbia.

The competition is aimed at encouraging secondary school students to pursue their artistic talents and at inspiring them to research and discover the little known, yet interesting, facts about Europe. They should also be creative in visually presenting their findings to the wider audience.

By organizing the competition, the European PROGRESS continued the tradition that the European development programs EU PROGRESS and MIR had previously launched in South West and South Serbia.  The students, teachers and parents praised and supported this initiative in the past.

Twelve best art works selected by a panel of art experts will be printed on the 2015 European PROGRESS Calendar. The young authors of the selected works will be awarded laptops, tablet computers and cameras.

A laptop computer and projector will be awarded to a school that is selected the winner based on the total number and quality of submitted art works, as well as based on the commitments regarding the organization of the internal school competition.

The competition will close on November 10, 2014, while the announcement of the winners, the award presentation ceremony and the promotion of the calendar are to be organized in Blace in the second half of December.

The participants in this year's art competition “Discover Europe” should present their own views of the facts on Europe, which they believe are interesting. All art works should be accompanied by a short textual description, which explains the facts presented and disseminates the knowledge about Europe.

The information on the competition is available at http://www.euprogres.org/vest.php?id=603.
